Kvm For Mac Mini

I have an IOgear USB KVM connecting a USB keyboard and USB mouse to a Dell Laptop that has Ubuntu 14.04 on it and a Mac Mini (latest possible OS for that hardware), Mac is circa 2008. This KVM has one connector for Video, one USB connecter for both mouse and keyboard and one audio connector.

I bought a KVM monitor switch box, some KVM cables, and a USB to PS/2 ports so that I could connect the Mac Mini I bought and my old PC to the same monitor. Unfortunately I have been running into problems. I can verify that the monitor is working - I turned off the PC and directly connected my monitor to the Mac Mini. If you have an existing PS/2 connection equipment, it will work thru a KVM. AND the MacMini has the DVI port, BUT it comes with a DVI to VGA adapter. My father-in-law bought a MacMini on my advice, and a Belkin 4-Port KVM switch at Frys Electronics. The KVM has audio AND USB ports on it.

Everything seems to work fine except for the odd occasion when I switch back to the Mac and I'm presented with the crash overlay telling me to hard reset the MAC.

This setup is somewhat new because my Windows 8 desktop system crashed, but when the windows machine was running with the Mac I was using a PS2 IOGear KVM and I never saw this Apple crash message. I did have the mouse and the keyboard into the Mac separately (from the KVM) through a USB extender/multiplier but it was not powered, and I did have to use a separate USB nouse for the PC because I could not get the USB mouse to connect to the Windows machine through the PS KVM, but I think this has nothing to do with my present problem.

Is there some strange Mac OS problem when switching USB mice and keyboards between computers using a USB KVM?

And..It doesn't happen everytime.

The main function of a KVM switch is to use one keyboard, monitor and mouse to start multiple PCs. It is important to simulate the keyboard and mouse signals to each PC and not influence the CPU operations during switching. Other important factors to consider when buying a KVM switch is the stability of the monitor resolution, whether or not it supports multiple platforms, and the compatibility of operating systems with different branded keyboards and mice. Every KVM Switch has a maximum number of PC connections. A single KVM switch can provide as few as two CPU ports, while a multiple KVM switch installation can offer more than 4000 CPU ports. As the number of connected PCs increase, the technology needs are higher (for example, signal identification) and the different ways of management increase (for example, remote control, multiple segmentation, high-level security, etc.) in order to meet the management demands of different environments. Currently, the remote control solutions use both hardware (KVM) and software (for example, PC Anywhere, VNC, OpenSSH, Microsoft Telnet Service, etc.). To understand the comparison between hardware and software, please refer to the Remote Control Solution column.
